Blerd, Blerd, Blerd, Blerd's is the Word!

The word blerd is a slang term for black nerd. Now many may ask, "why not just call yourself a nerd?" It can be done, and I'm sure it has been by many, but I have usually struggled with finding my tribe. I've come to realize the importance of not only fitting in, but being comfortable with the people I am around. Having common ground and cultural acceptance is important, actually vital to cultivating friendships that honor who you are. This is not to say that relationships cannot be cultivated between different cultures, of course they can and they thrive just like any other healthy relationships can when given the opportunity and attention to be its best self.

I'm referring to the importance of representation and creating spaces that are safe and allow us to thrive and be seen without it having to be a struggle or a constant strategy to find ways to be accepted. The days of waiting or wanting to be accepted by the standards of society are behind us. Blerd's are standing proud and representing on all platforms.
